Vigneron Evriviadis Sclavos has been putting a strong emphasis on non-interventional winemaking in his winery – located in Lixouri on Kefalonia – since 1996. From the very beginning, the vineyards have been grown using organic and biodynamic philosophies – “It is a philosophy of life – not a fashion trend,” as he puts it.
Evriviadis adds his own style to the wines and produces unmanipulated natural wines from the local varietals of Robola, Mavrodaphne, Tsaousi and Vostilidi, from several levels of elevation and chalk-rich soil of the picturesque island. The Sclavos wines are highly recognized and praised on the international wine scene, and can thus be hard to find, since the yields are quite low, partly due to the great earthquake that hit the island in 2014 – it almost destroyed the winery.
The first of Sclavos’ wines seen in Copenhagen, was received by us in the fall of 2016 and has been going strong since.
